0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_req

Problem:

While installing OS using NIM, the following error/warning messages shown on the LPAR console:

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied - Method_req

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_reqystems.

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_reqdata restored.

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_req data restored.

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_reqb data restored.

0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied – Method_reqb data restored.

Problem summary

• The nimesis daemon can hang when being flooded with service
  requests from client machines that have incorrect cpuids
  compared to what is stored in the nim database.
  
  Checking alog -t nim -o, the user may find many log entries of:
  <0042-008 NIMstate: Request denied - Method_req>

   

Problem conclusion

• The nimesis daemon will need to perform a lock (mutex) around
  any calls to the nim_log function when nimesis multi-threading
  is enabled.

Solution:

Install APAR 

IZ47171 on AIX 6100-04
or IZ45786 on AIX 6100-03
