Problem(Abstract)
Attempt to perform WPAR relocation/migration or relocatable/checkpointable WPAR between valid AIX 6.1 LPARs fails.

Symptom
Error displayed within WPAR Manager GUI:

AKMWA0002E The command failed to execute on the target system.

Within WPAR Manager/Monitoring/Task Activity (See FIGURE 1 below)

Select "Restart Worklaod Partion" link for details.

Select Command/Output/Error tabs to display values for each (See FIGURE 2 below)

Command:

/opt/mcr/bin/restartwpar -d /wpars/wpar1/tmp/wpar1/sourcelpar.lab.ibm.com/state -o /wpars/wpar1/tmp/wpar1/sourcelpar.lab.ibm.com/mcr.log -l error -p wpar1


Output:

Starting workload partition 'wpar1'.
Mounting all workload partition file systems.
Loading workload partition.
Exporting workload partition devices.
Starting workload partition subsystem 'cor_wpar1'.

Cause
CMVC: Defect 636952:
APAR_aix_610 = IZ07801
APAR_aix_61B = IZ08244
APAR_aix_61D = IZ10503


Another possible reason for the "thread dies unexpectedly" error is if the source LPAR is running processes/threads which are not running (or filesets not installed) on the target LPAR., Ensure both
source and target LPARs contain identical filesets.
 
Environment
WPAR Manager Product running on AIX 6.1 OS
 
Resolving the problem
Apply Service Pack 2 to AIX 6.1 OS to bring both source and target LPARs to 6100-00-02-0750
